46 Husdon Place
According to the Cambridge Historical Society, 46 Hudson Place is the second oldest existing home in Cambridge, a city brimming with historic structures. The small home was purchased by two Minnesota transplants who had moved to Cambridge to teach at Harvard University. The couple, sensitive to the history of the home, wanted a space that satisfied their functional needs while celebrating the original structure and finishes where possible.
The project while initially small in scope, evolved into a nearly full renovation. The living room and both bedrooms were stripped and completely redone, including new lighting and an updated air conditioning system; and the unfinished basement has been converted to habitable space, including a guest bedroom and bath for the couple's visiting children.
I joined the project just as demolition began, and was involved in much of the construction. I also contributed to the design and provided construction drawings when required.
